ABOUT EQUITY FOCUS MICROFINANCE LIMITED
Background
Equity Focus Microfinance Limited (EFML), a wholly owned subsidiary of Equity Focus Company Limited (EFCL), is licensed by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to undertake micro financing activities that seek to help close the financial intermediation gap between Lenders and Borrowers.
Experience
Equity Focus Company Limited (the parent company of EFML) began microfinance operations in 2005 as part of its core operating activities. However, following the decision of the Bank of Ghana to regulate and supervise the operations of microfinance companies in Ghana, the microfinance functions of EFCL were segregated from the predominantly capital market-oriented company and placed under the ambit of a wholly-owned subsidiary, Equity Focus Microfinance Limited (EFML). EFML was subsequently licensed by the Bank of Ghana in 2012.
